Response of small millets in sole and intercropping with sorghum (Sorghum bicolour L.) on yield attributes and yields under rainfed condition

Abstract

The experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Indore (RVSKVV) (M.P.) in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications during kharif season of 2024) along with 3 replications and T1 Sole sorghum (30 cm x 10 cm), T2 Sole pearl millet (30 cm x 10 cm), T3 Sorghum + pearl millet (1:2), T4 Sole proso millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T5 Sorghum + proso millet (1:2), T6 Sole foxtail millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T7 Sorghum + foxtail millet (1:2), T8Sole finger millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T9 Sorghum + finger millet (1:2), T10 Sole little millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T11 Sorghum + little millet (1:2), T12 Sole barnyard millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T13 Sorghum + barnyard millet (1:2), T14 Sole kodo millet (30 cm x 5 cm), T15 Sorghum + kodo millet (1:2) treatments respectively. Among the intercrops, (T10) sole little millet recorded higher no of panicles / m2 and (T7) Sorghum + foxtail millet (1:2) is recorded highest grains / panicle. Grain and stover yield of intercrops is recorded significantly highest in (T8) sole finger millet which is at par with (T6) sole foxtail millet, (T14) sole kodo millet and (T2) sole pearl millet, while (T11) Sorghum + little millet (1:2) registered lower grain and stover yield.
