Review on-health promoting potentials of today’s smart food: Millets

Abstract

This review article covers millets' nutritional composition, health benefits and economic significance. Millets are a type of small seeded grass that provides a variety of benefits. They are also regarded as exceptionally nutritious grains, with several health and nutritional benefits. Millets are versatile and may be used in a variety of meals. They are also one of the most sustainable agricultural choices and have a significant environmental impact. Millet's environmental impact is significant since it is an excellent provider of nutrients and has exceptional climate adaption properties. Millets are valued for their health benefits, which include nutrients, minerals, carbohydrates and dietary fibre, as well as significant medical advantages. Millets have gained popularity in recent years due to their exceptional nutritional value and potential health benefits. This review explores at different kinds of millets and their health benefits, assesses the nutritional benefits of millets, which contain significant levels of fibre, vitamins, minerals and protein. Millets are gluten-free, making them acceptable for anyone with coeliac disease or sensitivity. Millets have numerous health benefits, including avoiding diabetes, cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer.
