Assessment of genetic variability and correlation analysis for yield and yield associated traits in linseed genotypes (Linum usitatissimum L.)
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to study the nature and magnitude of genetic variability with yield and related traits and characters association in linseed. Twenty-eight linseed genotypes were evaluated during rabi season of 2022-23 at experimental farm of B.T.C. College of Agriculture and Research Station Bilaspur, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. High to moderate estimates of GCV and PCV were observed for seed yield (kg/plot), biological yield (kg/plot), number of capsules per plant and plant height (cm). The high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as (%) of mean were observed for plant height (cm), number of capsules per plant, test weight (g), days to 50% flowering, seed yield (kg/plot), biological yield (kg/plot) and number of branches per plant. Correlation studies revealed that the characters such as harvest index (%), biological yield (kg/plot) and number of branches per plant had positive significant correlation with seed yield (kg/plot) at both genotypic and phenotypic levels, which implied the simultaneous improvement of these characters through selection.
