From grass to glow: Formulation and evaluation of a Cynodon dactylon based herbal face wash
Abstract
Cynodon dactylon (Bermuda grass) is a widely distributed plant with significant pharmaceutical applications, particularly in treating skin problems. This study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal face wash incorporating C. dactylon and other excipients. Three formulations (F1, F2, F3) were prepared, with F3 demonstrating superior outcomes compared to the other formulations. Evaluation parameters included colour, consistency, pH, spreadability, washability, and foamability. Additionally, antibacterial activity was assessed. The broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, attributed to its phytochemical constituents, supports its traditional medicinal use. The results indicate that the traditional application for infectious diseases, particularly against bacteria, is well-supported. The formulated preparation proved highly effective for skincare.
