Comparative study of linseed varieties for yield and its contributing traits under different levels of nitrogen

Abstract

The present investigation entitled Comparative study of linseed varieties for yield and its contributing traits under different levels of nitrogen was carried out at Research cum Instructional Farm, Sant Kabir College of Agriculture and Research Station Kawardha, (G.G.) during Rabi season, 2024-25. The treatment consisting three nitrogen levels in main plot and five varieties in sub plot were laid out in split plot design with three replications. The main plot comprised N1- 50% of recommended dose of nitrogen (60 kg N ha-1), N2-100% of recommended dose of nitrogen (60 kg N ha-1), N3-150% of recommended dose of nitrogen (90 kg N ha-1) and sub plot comprised:V1 (JLS-95),V2 (RLC-143),V3 (RLC-153),V4 (RLC-148),V5 (RLC-92). The result of the experiment revealed that application of 150% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) found to be superior over other nitrogen levels for growth parameters viz., plant height (69.64), number of primary branches plant-1 (4.28), secondary branches plant-1 (25.27), number of tertiary branches plant-1 (22.39), leaf area (cm2 plant-1) (25.53) and yield attributes viz., number of capsules plant-1 (60.60), number of seeds capsules -1 (8.47), seed yield (1696.09 kg ha-1) and stover yield (3286.31 kg ha-1). Among varieties V5 (RLC-92) produced higher plant height (73.20), number of branches plant-1 primary (4.10), secondary (24.70) & tertiary (21.80), leaf area (cm2 plant-1) (25.01) and yield attributes viz., number of capsules plant-1 (63.55), number of seeds capsules -1 (8.63), seed yield (1559.40 kg ha-1) and stover yield (3279.55 kg ha-1).
