Effects of Hermetia illucens (HI) larvae meal as a partial to complete substituttion soybean meal on hematogical and blood biochemical parameters in broiler chickens

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens; HI) larvae meal inclusion blood on hematological and biochemical parameters in broiler chicken. A total one hundred and sixty a day- old broiler chicks (Vencobb-400 strain) were randomly divided into five groups based on their body weight with 4 replicates (8 chicks/replica) in each for a period of 6 weeks (d 1 to d 42). The five dietary treatments were as CON having basal diet only, while in HI25, HI50, HI75 and HI100 were incorporated with 25, 50, 75 and 100% of Hermetia illucens (HI) larvae meal as a partial to complete substitution for soybean meal in the basal diet, respectively. All the major hematological parameters were in normal range and reflected that inclusion of HI larvae meal does not affected the health status of birds.
