The effect of feeding concentrate based on chicken farm by-products on carcass percentage and physical composition of breast from Balitbangtan superior native chickens (KUB chickens)

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of providing/replacing protein concentrate based on chicken farm waste (KPLA) on the percentage of carcass and physical composition of the breast carcass of Balitbangtan chickens (KUB Chicken). The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 5 replications, each replication unit consisting of 4 chickens, so the research material: 80 chickens. Research treatments, P0 (control): 0% KPLA + 30% CC (commercial concentrate), P1: 10% KPLA + 20 CC, P2: 20% KPLA + 10% CC, P3: 30% KPLA + 0% CC. Research parameters: slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, and physical composition of carcass. The results of the study, the percentage of carcasses in the treatment groups P0, P1, P2, and P3 obtained the same results (P>0.05). The physical composition of the carcass (meat, bone, and fat-skin) in the breast cut also yielded similar results across treatments. In conclusion, replacing commercial concentrate with 10%, 20%, and 30% KPLA resulted in similar carcass percentages and physical composition compared to the control. Suggestions: To achieve good carcass percentages and physical composition, use/replace commercial concentrate with 30% KPLA.
