A case report on the healing of chronic venous ulcer with Lachesis mutus: A homoeopathic approach

Abstract

Venous ulcers are chronic, slow-healing wounds predominantly resulting from venous insufficiency. They often recur and show resistance to standard medical interventions, posing a substantial challenge to both patients and healthcare systems. These ulcers significantly diminish the quality of life due to their persistent nature and the complexity of treatment. Approximately 70–80% of lower limb ulcers are venous in origin, presenting as painful, recurrent, and often unresponsive to conventional treatments such as antibiotics, debridement, and compression. With growing interest in integrative approaches to chronic wound care, homeopathy emerges as a gentle, personalized modality that may facilitate healing in Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs) over the long term.
