Characterization and antimicrobial efficacy of silver nanoparticles synthesized from parts of endemic species Terminalia pallida Brandis

Abstract

Many plant diseases have been controlled but due to changes in environmental and other conditions, some of the microbes have acquired resistance to the present generation drugs, prompting a need to develop eco-friendly drugs with novelty.Aim: The present study was focused on the aqueous synthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) from the leaf, bark, and fruits of the selected endemic species Terminalia pallida (T. pallida); these SNPs were characterized and SNPs were tested for their antimicrobial efficacy against two negative and two positive strains of bacteria.Results: The results indicated that the average particle size has proved the SNPs to be below 50nm, and significantly effective in controlling these strains.
