Antimicrobial activity of cow pea protein against Aspergillus Niger and Candida albicans pathogen

Abstract
The increasing emergence of antifungal resistance necessitates the discovery of novel antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial properties of an isolated protein against fungal pathogens. The protein concentrations were determined, and SDS-PAGE analysis was performed. The antimicrobial activity of the isolated protein was evaluated using the agar well diffusion method. The isolated protein exhibited dose-dependent inhibition of fungal growth, with antimicrobial activity comparable to Fluconazole. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the isolated protein was determined to be 5?g/ml.
