Effects of different levels of NPK and biochar on physico-chemical properties of soil and yield of black gram (Vigna mungo L.)
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different level of NPK and biochar on physico-chemical properties of soil and yield of black gram (Vigna mungo L.) during the kharif season of 2024 at the research Farm of Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, NAI, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj, U.P. The experiment having two factors with three levels of NPK 0%, 50% and 100% ha-1 and three levels of Biochar at 0 t, 5 t and 10 t ha-1 which was layout in Randomized block design (RBD). The different levels of NPK and biochar significantly influenced the physico-chemical properties of soil, as well as the yield of black gram. The result of experiment on the effects of different level of NPK and biochar on per cent pore space, water holing capacity, per cent organic carbon, N, P, and K was significant improved in treatment T9 (@ 100% RDF + @ 10 t ha-1 Biochar) and non-significant effect was observed on bulk density, particle density, pH and EC after crop harvest at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depth. The effects of different level of NPK and biochar on yield was also found significant and maximum yield was also recorded in T9 (@ 100% RDF + @ 10 t ha-1 Biochar).
