An in vitro study on antibacterial activity of Zingiber officinale and their potencies against Escherichia coli

Abstract

The bacteria known as Escherichia coli, or simply Escherichia coli, is frequently found in the lower intestines of warm-blooded creatures, including people. Contaminated food or water, contact with infected people or animals, and occasionally contact with contaminated surfaces are the ways that Escherichia coli can spread. From minor gastrointestinal discomfort to serious ailments including urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and in severe cases, renal failure, pathogenic strains can cause a wide spectrum of disorders. The Southeast Asian native plant Zingiber officinale, or ginger, is used medicinally for its rhizome. It is a multipurpose plant that has culinary uses as well. According to William Boericke's Materia Medica, Zingiber officinale is an excellent treatment for respiratory, sexual, and digestive system debility. The purpose of this study is to assess Zingiber officinale 6C, 30C, and 200C's antibacterial capabilities against Escherichia coli bacterial strains. The zone of inhibition was assessed for Zingiber officinale's various potencies, and it demonstrated strong antibacterial activity against strains of Escherichia coli bacteria.
