Qualitative evaluation of bioactive phytochemicals in selected herbal plants

Abstract

Herbal plants have long been centuries known to be a basic and fundamental component of conventional medicinal systems globally as natural drugs that treat an incredibly high number of diseases and ailments efficiently. Therapeutic activity within these plants for such actions is predominantly linked to the presence of a range of bioactive compounds that have been extensively recognized and described over time. These compounds comprises of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, glycosides, phenolic compounds, etc. all of which are well recognized to possess strong pharmacological activities. The extract from plant sample were collected by the process of maceration (by leaving the powdered sample in a suitable solvent for 48 hours). The plants which are included in this shows some useful therapeutic properties which are studied using the phytochemical analysis, an effective method for accurately identifying the various bioactive components present in medicinal plants which validates the traditional uses of the same natural remedies.
