The functional approach to language teaching
Abstract
An approach is a level at which assumptions and beliefs about language and language learning are specified. It consists of Philosophical assumptions serving as the source of practices and principles in language teaching. It is obvious that another approach emerge on criticisms against the previous one. However, for me, no approach is neither too good nor too bad in itself. It is just a way on dealing about an entity from different perspectives. But how much logically that perspective can contribute on explanation is of greater importance. Thus, functional approach to language teaching has the relationship between language forms and functions in the center of teaching and learning.
