The commentator Rangadasa: A study

Abstract

Meghadutam is a very small and beautiful piece of Kalidasa’s creation. It’s sweetness may be aptly described in his own words as hastaprapyastavakanamito balamandaravrksyah. It is so short that anybody will tempt to pluck its śabdastavakas by pulling down the branches. Therefore, it is found that commentators from all the quarters of the country have written commentaries down the ages. Among them Rangadasa is one of them. So, the thrust of this paper intends to highlight about the commentator Rangadasa.
