Detection of microbial contaminants of the some fruits juices in local markets in the city Karbala
Abstract
In summer 2015 the total of samples is 72 were analysed.the sample were orange, melon, sultana, lemon, kiwi, pomegranate, Blinko (Basil seeds), apricot, and Numi Basrah (Dried lime).The results showed high number of microorganisms in the fresh juices, due to the microbial contamination.These samples used to determine the total count bacteria, coliform, and yeast and mold.The number and type of microorganisms recovered from the freshly squeezed fruit juices made them unsafe for drinking unhygienic fruit handling in the poorly sanitized environmental conditions under which venders operate the juices become contaminated with harmful bacteria.The microbial tests demonstrated that 24 drinks of the tested samples were polluted and invalid for human consumption in a failure rate reached to 33% of the total samples.The results tests comport according to Iraqi Standard Specification (IQS/2270/6/2006) Microbiological limits of food drinks.
