Validation of portable culture device for detecting foodborne organisms
Abstract
The precise identification of microorganisms is vital for ensuring food safety in the food industry. This study investigates the effectiveness of paper-based portable culture devices (PCDs) by evaluating their performance in detecting microorganisms in both spiked (Artificially contaminated) and non-spiked (naturally contaminated) food samples. By using conventional detection methods as benchmarks, the study provides a comprehensive comparison of the effectiveness and reliability of PCDs. Key outcomes, including the benefits and limitations of PCDs, are thoroughly examined. The assessment of PCDs' suitability for microorganism detection in food is critical for their potential future application. This comparative evaluation aims to highlight the feasibility and precision of PCDs, with the ultimate goal of facilitating their integration into routine food safety testing procedures.
