Evaluating the effects of organic manure dosages on the growth parameters and seed yield of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in semi-arid regions

Abstract

The present study, titled "Evaluating the Effects of Organic Manure Dosages on the Growth Parameters and Seed Yield of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in Semi-Arid Regions" was conducted during the winter season of 2023–24 at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Ayodhya, U.P. The experiment was designed using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications to evaluate the effects of different organic manure combinations on the growth and yield of coriander the treatments included combinations of poultry manure, Jeevamrita, Beejamrita, mulching, and NPK 20:30:30 (kg/ha) vegetative parameters such as plant height, number of branches per plant, and number of fruiting nodes per plant were recorded at 30, 60, and 90 days after sowing (DAS). Yield attributes such as number of umbels per plant, number of umbellates per umbel, fruits per umbellate, seed yield per plant, and seed yield per plot were also observed. The results revealed that the application of RDF (NPK 20:30:30) significantly enhanced growth parameters, including plant height, branches per plant, and fruiting nodes per plant, as well as yield components like umbel number and seed yield per plant and plot. However, among the organic manure combinations tested, the treatment that included poultry manure, Jeevamrita, Beejamrita, and mulching (Treatment 6) emerged as the most effective combination for improving coriander’s growth and seed yield. This treatment resulted in the highest values for various growth and yield attributes, making it the best option for commercial coriander production.
