Effect of irrigation on fruit quality parameters of mango var. Mallika

Abstract

The Research experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of irrigation on fruit quality parameters of mango var. “Mallika” at Horticulture Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design (CRD) with four replication and ten treatments. Irrigation according to the treatment was given at various growth stages viz. pea stage, marble stage, 20 days and 40 days after marble stage and at harvest stage. All treatments received 640 liters of water per tree at different growth stages (pea stage, marble stage, 20 and 40 days after marble stage). The maximum value of total soluble solids (24.88 °Brix), reducing sugar (8.72%), non-reducing sugar (9.90%), total sugar 18.63%) and beta carotene (1.48 mg/100 g) was recorded when irrigation was given at pea stage, marble stage and 20 days after marble stage.
