Diversity, distribution and economic perspective of wild edible fruit plants of Soro block in Balasore district of Odisha, India

Abstract

Soro block in Balasore district of Odisha has rich diversity of wild edible fruit plants, which play a very important role for the economy and nutritional needs of rural and tribal people in this region. These wild edible fruit plants are helpful for curing various primary diseases. During the present investigation, 43 Wild Edible Fruit Plant species belonging to 37 genera under 25 family have been reported from different parts of Soro block in Balasore district of Odisha. Those fruits have fulfilled the dietary requirement of the local people at the time of food scarcity.
