Effect of bagging materials on fruit quality of custard apple

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2024 · Vol. 8(10S) · pp. 918–921

Abstract

An investigation on improvement of quality of custard apple cv. Balanagar fruits through bagging was carried out at Central Research Station, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra, India during May 2023- November 2023. The area of experiment was semi-arid with dry hot summers with moderately cold winter. Pre-harvest bagging has emerged as a vital practise to improve the quality and shelf life of fruits by protecting them from environmental stressors, pests, diseases. This study investigates the impact of different bagging materials on the post-harvest quality attributes of custard apple.  Various bagging materials were used for experiment. The results revealed that bagging have the significant effect on improvement on physico chemical parameters such as polar diameter, equatorial diameter, fruit weight, fruit firmness, volume of fruit, TSS, Ascorbic acid content, Total sugars, Reducing sugars, non-reducing sugars.
