Evaluation of the effectiveness and user-friendliness of portable culture device for onsite detection of Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus and enumeration of total viable count from food samples

Abstract

Introduction: The study assesses the performance of a portable culture device (PCD) designed for on-site analysis of food samples.Methodology: Tests were conducted in real-world conditions, thus device's ability to analyze samples immediately was demonstrated. A domestic setup was used for onsite analysis of solid samples, whereas liquid samples were analyzed onsite. Thirty-five volunteers were provided with a kit to for onsite analysis of food samples. Feedback was collected from the volunteers to get valuable insights into its usability and potential areas for enhancement. Conclusion: This extensive methodology ensured a thorough assessment of the device's capabilities and its suitability for broader applications.
