Preparation and evaluation of herbal antimicrobial soap

Abstract

Objective: To Prepare and evaluate anti-microbial soap. Methods: The cold saponification process is used for the preparation of soap. The saponification reaction in the formulation of soap involved the use of coconut oil and Solanum lycopersicum (Tomato) seed oils as natural fats, and alkali NaOH. Results: This soap, developed using Azadirachta indica and Ocimum sanctum, underwent evaluation for various properties such as color, odour, pH, foam retention, foam height. The herbal soap demonstrated the most stable foam, retaining its quality for over 2 minutes when a small amount was dissolved in distilled water. Conclusion: Research on biological characteristics, including antibacterial and antioxidant capabilities, showed that the soap that was made was quite effective in these areas. According to the findings, after accounting for a number of variables, such as skin issues and the herbal remedies' potential and efficacy along with antimicrobial properties.
