Abstract

The present study reports the phytochemical investigation of the bark of Averrhoa bilimbi Linn. Four phytoconstituents have been reported namely Bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate; Myricetin; Quercetin; β-Sitosterol; and these four compounds have been reported for the first time from the bark of A. bilimbi Linn. The structures of these compounds were elucidated from their 1D NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT 13C-NMR) and where required, from their 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, HMBC) data and comparing the 1H- and 13C-NMR data where required with that of the published data in the literatures.
