Response of morpho-physiological traits and grain yield of wheat varieties to foliar applied different doses of boron and thiourea under two sowing dates

Abstract

A field experiment conducted at Experimental Research Farm, Nawabganj of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology Kanpur, India, in timely and late sowing conditions during Rabi season i.e., 2013-14 and 2014-15. In this experiment use split –split plot design in which, two sowing dates (D1- Timely sowing, D2- Late sowing) in main plot, four varieties (V1: K- 607, V2: K-402, V3: K-7903, V4: K-9533) in subplot and five treatments (T0- Control, T1- Boron 0.2%, T2- Boron 0.5%, T3- Thiourea 500ppm, T4- Thiourea 1000ppm). The response of morpho-physiological traits such as plant height (D1- 24.6, 23.3 and 81.6, 79.8; V2- 24.5, 23.5cm and 82.0, 80.2; T3- 26.1,24.6 and 79.5, 78.0; D1V2- 25.8, 24.8 and 87.3, 85.2; D1T3- 27.5, 25.4 and 83.3, 82.4 cm; V1T3- 26.9, 25.7 and 83.8, 81.8cm; D1V2T3- 27.9, 216.7 and 89.1, 86.8 at 45 DAS and 85 DAS, respectively), grain yield, these were D1- 433.4 g m-2; V2- 409.2 g m-2; T3- 401.5 g m-2; D1V2- 462.2 g m-2; D1T3- 445.7 g m-2; V2T3- 419.0 g m-2; D1V2T3- 475.0 g m-2, were found mostly significantly in sowing year 2013-14 than 2014-15. CTD was obtained more in D1- 5.45 0C, V3- 5.15 0C, T3- 5.17 0C, D1V3-5.62 0C, D1T3- 5.65 0C, V3T3- 5.30 0C, and MII was observed low in D1- 25.58, V2-24.88, T2- 25.09, D1V1-23.82, D1T2- 24.83, V2T3- 24.32, D1V1T2- 24.32 at flowering stage.
