The volatile components of the aerial parts of Acalypha rhomboidea Raf. (Euphorbiaceae)

Abstract
The essential oils from the aerial parts of Acalypha rhomboidea, growing wild in north Alabama, were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry. The essential oils were dominated by green leaf volatiles, mainly (2E)-hexenal (52.7-53.2%), (3Z)-hexenol (7.6-12.3%), and hexanal (5.3-5.8%). In addition, the diterpenoid phytol (11.3-15.1%) was also abundant in the essential oils.
