Microbial probiotics for better fish survival and growth of Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer)

Abstract
Survival and biomass production in seabass (Lates calcarifer) was assessed under different combinations of microbial mixtures of Bacillus fluxus, yeast and Spirulina by using the statistical approach of response surface methodology (RSM). The fish biomass was 16% higher in probitoics mixture of bacillus (1.89 g/kg), yeast (2.77 g/kg) and Spirulina (5.27g/kg) than that fed with commercial feed alone. This work reiterated the potential of probiotics in better fish survival and growth of Lates calcarifer and the use of RSM in determining optimal probiotic mixtures.
