Screening of polyherbal formulation for its potential anti-hyperlipidemic and antioxidant activity

Abstract

Polyherbal formulation was prepared based on the ideal tree concept. Phytochemical screening was performed according to the standard methods. Acute toxicity was performed according to OECD guidelines, using 2000 mg/ kg BW as a limit dose. Anti-hyperlipidemic activity of the aqueous extract of polyherbal formulation (50 mg/kg, p.o.) was determined in Triton X-100 induced (100 mg/kg) hyperlipidemic albino wistar rats and compared against simvastatin (10 mg/kg, p.o,) as a standard .On 21st day serum lipid levels were estimated by using respective diagnostic kits.
