Abstract

As in previous issues of this series, the volume exhibits high standards for excellent reproductions, extensive bibliographies, and thorough review. The individual authors have been broad in their scope, and the bidliography appears to be complete through 1969 and in some instances into 1971. Individual chapters cover "Dark and Light Adaptation: Psychophysics," "Threshold Quantal Problems," "Signal Detection Theory and Its Application to Problems in Vision," "Luminance Difference Thresholds," "Visual Perimetry," "Simultaneous Brightness Induction," "Visual Acuity and Spatial Modulation Thresholds," "Mach Band Phenomena," "Discrimination of Homogeneous Double Pulses of Light," "Metacontrast," "Flicker," "Eye Movements," "Eye Movements and Perceived Visual Direction," "Theoretical Issues of Color Vision," "Spectral Luminosity," "Colour Mixture," "Light Transmission through the Ocular Media and Macular Pigment and its Significance for Psychophysical Investigation," "The Stiles-Crawford Effects and Their Significance in Vision," "Color Discrimination Data," "Peripheral Colour Vision," "The Two-Color Threshold Technique of Stiles and Derived Component Color Mechanisms," "Color
