Abstract
Abstract A new odoriferous component, for which we propose the name «methyl jasmonate», has been isolated from jasmine oil ( Jasminum grandiflorum L.). This compound is shown to be (–)‐methyl cis ‐2‐pent‐2′‐enyl‐3‐oxo‐cyclopentylacetate.
