A pre-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge regarding domestic waste management at household level among women at selected village of district Mohali, Punjab

Abstract

Domestic waste management is a crucial concern for maintaining hygiene, environmental sustainability, and public health. Improper disposal of household waste can lead to pollution, health hazards, and environmental problems, making awareness essential for proper management practices. In this light, the present study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of an Informational Booklet on knowledge regarding Domestic Waste Management among women residing at a selected village of Distt. Mohali, Punjab. Material and Method:A quantitative research approach and pre-experimental research design was adopted for the study. The study was conducted on 70 women between 25 to above 40 years of age residing in the village of Sahauran of Distt. Mohali, Punjab. The investigator adopted a convenient sampling technique to collect the data from the women. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Result:The findings indicated that in the pre-test, the majority of women 59 (84.3%) had poor knowledge and 11 (15.7%) had average knowledge and none of the women had good knowledge. Whereas, in the post-test, it was seen that 60 women (85.7%) had good knowledge and 10 (14.3%) had average knowledge, and none of the women had poor knowledge.
