Effect of liquid biofertilizer and nutrient levels on growth and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Abstract

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L) ranked first in the world for both acreage and production of cereals. Known as the "king of cereals," wheat is a member of the Poaceae family. A cereal grain that is a staple diet around the world, wheat is a grass that is frequently produced for its seed. In the majority of the planet, wheat is grown. During the Rabi season of 2023-24 and 2024-25, the Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) conducted an experiment titled “Influence of Liquid Biofertilizer and Nutrient levels on growth and yield of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)”. The soil was sandy loam in texture, moderately basic in reaction neutral pH (7.18), medium organic carbon (0.37%), available nitrogen (220.34 kg/ha), potassium (190.23 kg/ha), and low available phosphorus (12.44 kg/ha). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The results showed that significantly higher growth attributes of Wheat at 100 DAS, have increased the growth parameters viz., Plant height [84.71 cm (2023-24), 90.32 cm (2024-25) and 87.52 cm (Pooled)], higher plant dry weight 25.95 g (2023-24), 27.19 g (2024-25) and 26.57 g (Pooled)], Maximum number of tillers/plant [15.78] (2023-24), 16.08 (2024-25) and 15.93 (Pooled)] and chlorophyll content at 50 DAS [4.21 (2023-24), 4.32 (2024-25) and 4.27 (Pooled)] mg g-1 of fresh weight .The results suggest that the synergistic interaction between liquid bio-fertilizer consortia and full NPK recommendation not only stimulates wheat vegetative and reproductive growth via enhanced nutrient solubilization and microbial activity, but also improves soil fertility, sustainability.
