Homoeopathic management of acute rhinosinusitis in a child: A case report

Abstract

Background: Rhinosinusitis is a common inflammatory condition affecting the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses in children. It is frequently associated with symptoms such as nasal obstruction, mucopurulent discharge, fever, cough, and facial discomfort. Conventional management often includes antibiotics and symptomatic therapy; however, recurrent episodes and antibiotic resistance have encouraged exploration of complementary therapeutic approaches such as homoeopathy. Case Summary: A 14-year-old male child presented with thick yellow nasal discharge, productive cough, high-grade fever, halitosis, increased thirst, chilliness, irritability, and aggravation of symptoms at night for four days. Repertorisation was performed using the Complete Repertory in CARA software. Based on the totality of symptoms and repertorial result, Hepar sulphuris calcareum 200C was prescribed. Marked improvement was observed within three days, and complete resolution of symptoms occurred within two weeks.
