Improving Explosive Leg Strength of tribal Soccer Players through S.A.Q. Training from Bankura District

Abstract

In the present study, the researcher attempted to examine the effect of an S.A.Q. (Speed, Agility, and Quickness) training program on the explosive leg strength of soccer players. To investigate this, a total of 25 male tribal soccer players were selected as participants from Pandit Raghunath Murmu Abasik School, Nangla, Susunia, Bankura, West Bengal, India. According to the school records, the age of the participants ranged from 14 to 16 years. The subjects were chosen using a purposive sampling technique. For this study, explosive leg strength was considered as the dependent physical fitness variable, while a 10-week S.A.Q. training program was taken as the independent variable. To analyze the collected data, the paired ‘t’ test was used to determine the differences between the variables. Additionally, mean, standard deviation, and standard error of the mean were calculated to describe the data statistically. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The findings of the study clearly indicated that there was a significant improvement in the explosive leg strength of the male soccer players after completing the S.A.Q. training program.
