A Vascular Mystery: Rare cause of Hoarseness in adults

Abstract

Laryngeal hemangiomas are a rare form of benign blood vessel excrescences that are divided into two types immature and adult. While there is a relative cornucopia of cases of immature laryngeal hemangiomas, adult cases, especially those localized to the oral cords, are extremely rare. We report a case of adult cavernous hemangioma of the larynx wherein patient presented with voice change due to a left sided lesion on the vocal cord. The case was diagnosed as cavernous hemangioma on histopathological examination. The case illustrates the uncommon, yet striking features of adult vocal cord hemangiomas and their clinical significance.
