A comprehensive analysis of fielding tactics and quantitative efficiency in T20 cricket

Abstract

Fielding is a critical, yet often under-researched, pillar of cricket performance. In the T20 format, where matches are decided by slim margins, fielding tactics serve as a primary tool for run-containment and wicket-taking. This paper investigates the evolution of fielding from its traditional roots to the high-intensity T20 era. By utilizing video-graphic observation and the Shah (2016) measurement equation, this study aims to identify predominant fielding arrangements and develop a repertoire of tactical applications.
