Profile of the banana growers of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra state

Abstract

The present study was undertaken with the main objective to study the profile of the banana growers of Jalgaon District. The study was conducted in Jalgaon district of Khandesh region of Maharashtra. 300 banana growers were selected by using multi stage sampling techniques. Ex-post Facto research region was used for conducting the study. The data were collected through the personal interview. The data collected was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation revealed that majority of the respondents (48.33 per cent) belonged to middle age group while (45.00 per cent) of the respondents had “higher secondary level” of education, (62.00 per cent) belonged to medium size of family, (70.00 per cent) belonged to medium level of social participation category, (68.33 per cent) of the growers used “River” as sources of irrigation, (62.00per cent) of the growers used “Drip irrigation”, (65.67 per cent) belonged to medium level of experience in banana cultivation, (26.66 per cent) of the respondents first preference given G9, (52.67 per cent) belonged to medium level of annual income, (79.00 per cent) belonged to medium level of mass media exposure, (62.22 per cent) belonged to medium level of risk orientation, (59.67 per cent) belonged to medium scientific orientation, (66.00 per cent) belonged to medium market orientation.
