Power hitting and tactical dominance: A data-driven performance analysis of the ICC men’s T20 world cup 2026

Abstract

The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup represented a major evolution in modern cricket, characterized by aggressive batting strategies, improved bowling variations, and growing competitiveness among emerging teams. The tournament consisted of 55 matches played from 7 February to 8 March 2026, culminating in India defeating New Zealand in the final. India scored 255/5 in the final and won by 96 runs, one of the most dominant victories in a T20 World Cup final. This study tries to analyses team performance, run distribution, batting and bowling trends, and scoring patterns using descriptive statistics and graphical interpretation (pie chart, bar diagram). The results highlight a shift toward high-scoring matches and tactical innovations that are redefining the T20 format.
