Assessment of knowledge level of visiting farmers regarding coconut based farming systems

Abstract

The investigation was undertaken to study the the knowledge level of visiting farmers regarding coconut based farming system. The knowledge on coconut based farming systems of those farmers who were visited to Regional Coconut Research Station was assessed during the year 2024. For this purpose 50 farmers were randomly selected two farmers tours. the overall average of knowledge level indicates that 54.0 per cent growers had medium knowledge level and high knowledge level was seen in 18.4 per cent farmers. However, Among different practices, 70.00 per cent growers were well aware about intercropping in coconut with various crops like vegetables, flower crops. After visit to farm/demonstrations, a majority number of respondents which is 63.6 per cent belongs to high level of knowledge level towards coconut based farming system. 86 per cent of respondents have high level of knowledge about vermicomosting in coconut garden. 50.0 per cent of respondents were acquainted moderately and also highly with raring poultry birds in coconut garden.
