The association between personal, socio-economic, and psychological characteristics of grape growers and their utilization pattern of pesticides by grape growers

Abstract

In India, agriculture is the most important economic sector. Maharashtra is the country's largest grape-producing state. The Maharashtra government has proposed establishing an agriculture export zone that would include Nashik, Sangli, Pune, Solapur, Satara, and Ahmednagar, to export table grapes and value-added products like wine in a coordinated manner. Chemical control of pests is a common practice in agriculture an ex-post facto research design was used for this research. The investigation was carried out in the Nashik district. Thirty villages were chosen at random. The research was carried out in the Nashik district. Twenty-four villages were chosen at random. A total of 240 farmers were chosen from each community, with ten grape growers chosen from each village. The information was gathered through personal interviews. This investigation aims to analyze the association analysis of personal, socioeconomic, communicational and psychological characteristics of grape growers with their towards utilization pattern of pesticides by grape growers. In investigated result revealed that independent age, 0.05 per cent level of significance with utilization pattern of pesticides by grape growers. Educational level, Experience in grape cultivation, source of information. Area under grape production, Annual income, risk orientation, marketing behaviour all these variables establish positive and highly significant association at 0.01 level of significance with utilization pattern of pesticides by grape growers. Land holding was observed non-significant with utilization pattern of pesticides of respondents.
