Effect of different levels of phosphorus and sulphur on growth and yield of linseed
Abstract
A field experiment was carried out during Rabi seasons of 2024-25 at Research Cum Instructional Farm, S.K. College of Agriculture and Research Station, Kawardha (C.G.), to find out the effect of different levels of phosphorus and sulphur on growth and yield of linseed. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with 16 treatment combinations, each replicated thrice with the different levels of phosphorus (0, 20, 30, 40 P2O5 kg ha-1) and sulphur (0, 20, 25, 30 S kg ha-1). Phosphorus with incremental dose, increased the plant height, number of branches plant-1, leaf area, leaf area index and dry matter accumulation in linseed. Application of 40 kg ha-1 P2O5 was found best over 30kg, 20 kg and 0 kg ha-1 P2O5. Application of 40 kg ha-1 P2O5 also recorded the higher yield attributing characters viz., number of capsules plant-1, number of seed capsule-1, and yield i.e. seed yield, stover yield and biological yield (kg ha-1). Application of sulphur did not influence significantly the growth attributing characters (plant height and number of branches plant-1, leaf area). Whereas 30 kg ha-1 Sulphur recorded more dry matter accumulation, number of capsule plant-1, number of seed capsule-1, seed yield, stover yield and biological yield (kg ha-1).
