Impact of different broad spectrum herbicides on seed, stover yield and economics of chickpea crop (Cicer arietinum L.)

Abstract

The present investigation “impact of different broad spectrum herbicides on seed, stover and economics of chickpea crop (Cicer arietinum L.)” was carried out during Rabi yield season in 2015-16 and 2016-17 at Instructional Cum Research Farm of IGKV, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). The soil was clayey (Vertisols) in texture, locally known as “Kanhar” which was low, medium and high in available N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively. The experiment was laid out in Randomized block Design with three replications with Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) variety “Vaibhav”. The highest seed yield and harvest index was recorded significantly under treatment weed free (hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS) and lower in weedy check. Highest stover yield was obtained under Pendimethalin 30 EC @ 1.0 kg ha-1 PE +one hand weeding at 30 DAS) while lowest under weedy check during both the years and on mean basis. Highest gross return recorded under Treatment weed free (hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS) and minimum under weedy check. The significantly highest net return during 2015-16 was recorded under Treatment weed free (hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS) while during 2016-17 and on the mean basis under the treatment of Pendimethalin 30 EC + Imazethapyr 2% (Ready mix) @1.0 kg ha-1 PE + one hoeing at 30 DAS and minimum net return recorded under weedy check during both the years and on mean basis. The B:C Ratio found significantly highest under treatment Pendimethalin 30 EC + Imazethapyr 2% (Ready mix) @1.0 kg ha-1 PE + one hoeing at 30 DAS and lowest B:C ratio recorded under weedy check.
