Resilience in agriculture: Drought mitigation strategies used by farmers
Abstract
One of the best and economically viable methods of managing rainwater and other natural resources is drought mitigation methods. This technique has yielded substantial advantages in regions that receive rainfall and can handle a variety of complex environmental, social, and natural issues. Reducing drought susceptibility and promoting drought-resilient society are the objectives of drought mitigation and preparedness. Research study was conducted in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka during the year 2024–25. The ex-post-fact technique research design was adopted for the study. By using the simple random sampling technique, for the study purpose 120 farmers constituted for the collecting the response. The study results revealed that the majority of respondents (79.16%) were aware of incorporation of the organic matter, followed by the use of drought-resistant varieties (54.16%) and contingent crop plans (44.16%). Regarding the adoption of the drought mitigation technologies, forty percentage of the respondents belonged to the medium adoption group, followed by the low (34.17%) and high (25.83%) adoption groups respectively.
