Assessment of efficacy of thiamethoxam 30% FS as seed treatment for management of early crop-stage insect pest in corn
Abstract
The present study was conducted to evaluate the bio-efficacy of thiamethoxam 30% w/w FS as seed treatments against early-stage pests of maize. The effect of seed treatment on germination and plant vigour was also studied. The experiment was conducted at Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), Pundibari, West Bengal, India during 2020-21 and 2021-2022. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with seven treatments and each treatment was replicated four times. Results of the present experiments revealed that seed treatment with thiamethoxam 30% w/w FS @2.40 g a.i/kg of seed improved the germination and plant growth and it was found to be the most effective against shoot fly and aphid. No significant adverse effect on coccinellids predators were observed at the tested doses.
