Occurrence of skin wound: A study on clinical cases of dogs

Abstract

Skin wounds can range from the simplest to the most complex surgical affections of dogs, causing significant pain and distress. A knowledge of the occurrence of skin wound in dogs provides better understanding of the complex physiological process involved in wound healing. Thus the study was undertaken on clinical cases of skin wound in dogs presented to the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary College Bengaluru. It was found that clinical cases of skin wound in dogs commonly affected young adult male non- descript breed of dogs. Most of the clinical cases were maggot infested wounds. Accidental injury to the extremities were encountered most frequently.
