Impact of reeling wastewater applicated Mulberry leaves on economic parameters of silkworm (Bombyx mori. L)
Abstract
The rearing of silkworm was conducted by fed with wastewater irrigated Mulberry leaves at the Department of Sericulture, Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam during 2018-19. Silkworm larvae fed with reeling wastewater irrigated leaves showed maximum larval weight of 3.70 g and highest effective rate of rearing of 97.78 per cent. The more cocoon weight of 1.77 g, shell weight of 0.39 g and cocoon shell ratio of 22.03 per cent was recorded at 25 per cent concentration of wastewater. The reeling parameters like filament length of 1350.37 m, filament weight of 378 mg, denier of 2.59, raw silk percentage of 23.25 per cent and silk productivity of 7.0 cg/day were also observed at 25 per cent concentration of reeling wastewater application. Among the treatments, reeling wastewater was significantly different when compared to other treatments.
