Status of stem rot incidence of groundnut caused by sclerotium rolfsii in northern eastern Karnataka

Abstract

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oil seed crop in the world belonging to the Leguminosae family. A roving survey was carried out during Kharif 2021-22 in different groundnut growing districts of North-Eastern Karnataka to ascertain the stem rot disease of groundnut. Disease was recorded in all the surveyed location. The mean disease incidence of different districts was ranged from 18.89-36.28 percent. In Vijayanagar district, highest incidence was observed in Gudekota village of Kudligi taluk (44.66%) and the least incidence was observed in Nagenahalli village of Kotturu taluk (29.33%). In Ballari district, highest incidence was observed Ramasagara village of Ballari taluk (38.33%) Whereas, Araliaganur village of Siruguppa taluk showed the least incidence (27.00%). In Koppal district, highest incidence was observed in Hosur village of Koppal taluk (23.33%) and the lowest incidence was observed in Agoli village of Gangavathi taluk (14.00%). In Yadgir district, highest incidence was observed in Yalgi village (38.66%) and lowest incidence was observed in Mailapur village (20.66%).
