Immunomodulatory effect of individualized Homoeopathy in Cholinergic Urticaria: A case report

Abstract

Cholinergic urticaria is an inducible form characterized by small, intensely pruritic wheals triggered by sweating, exercise, heat and emotional stress. This case report describes a 26-year old female with a history of recurrent Cholinergic urticaria. Diagnosis was confirmed through clinical evaluation, elevated serum IgE levels and a positive provocation test. Disease activity was monitored using the Cholinergic Urticaria Activity Score (CholUAS). Individualised treatment with Rhus toxicodendron followed by Bovista resulted in marked clinical improvement, normalisation of IgE levels and discontinuation of anti-allergic medication. Outcome assessment using the Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy (MONARCH) supported a treatment and response relationship. This case emphasizes on individualized Homoeopathic treatment, which plays a beneficial role in managing chronic cholinergic urticaria and enhancing patients’ quality of life.
