Socio-economic profile of Scientists of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences, University, Bidar

Abstract

Veterinary university scientists plays important role in the advancement of animal health, biomedical research, food safety, security and zoonotic disease prevention. They integrate teaching, research, and extension to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and field application. In this context, the study has analyzed the Socio-economic profile of Scientists of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences, University, Bidar using the data collected from 10 University scientists from each district making a final sample size of 40 respondents from four districts of Karnataka. Purposive sampling and Random sampling were adopted for the study. Majority of the scientists belong to middle age followed by young and old age. The average age of university scientists was found to be 40.30 ± 7.86 years across all the districts. Majority of the pooled respondents in the study area were male followed by female faculty. Majority of the scientists within the pooled data had their education qualification as Ph.D followed by M.V.Sc., M.V.Sc.+ PGD and Ph.D+ PGD (10.00%). Majority of the respondents in pooled data were grouped under medium category followed by low for attending international level trainings / seminars / Conferences. Analyzing scientists' socioeconomic profiles is essential to comprehend how individual backgrounds such as education, income, and social standing affect research output, creativity, and career choices.
