Anestrus in buffaloes: Case report

Abstract

Anestrus in buffaloes causes significant economic losses by extending the calving interval, reducing milk and calf production. Due to its eminent position among the milk producing animals, buffalo is considered as black diamond but their poor reproductive efficiency affect economy of the farmers in terms of milk yield, net calf crop and therefore additional cost of rearing. An adult buffalo around 4 years was presented to Veterinary Hospital Chhuriya with the history of lack of heat signs (mounting, restlessness), delayed return to cyclicity after calving. Per rectal examination revealed inactive ovaries.
